Ancora un lavoro su commissione e ancora una volta è un nome di feltro, gettonatissimo tra le neo mamme ;) Questo andrà appeso alla porta della cameretta di una bambina piccola piccola di Lubiana, Nuša. La sua mamma mi ha chiesto gentilmente di metterci Hello Kitty... Non me ne voglia la Sanrio! :-P

Another custom order and another name banner, these seem to be very popular among new mommies ;) This one is for a baby girl from Lubiana, Nuša. Her mom kindly asked me to make a banner with Hello Kitty... Hope Sanrio doesn't mind! :-P

Come ho già detto sulla mia pagina Facebook, ogni tanto si può anche mettere da parte la propria personale "visione creativa" per far contenta una bimba... o piuttosto la sua mamma ;)
As I said on my Facebook page, sometimes it's ok to put aside your personal "creative vision" to make a little girl happy... or I should say her mom ;)

Quello che sto vivendo è per me un periodo non proprio dei migliori. Mi ritrovo a lamentarmi troppo spesso di molte cose che non sono come io vorrei, ed essendo io una che proprio non sopporta chi si lagna tutto il tempo, va da sé che mi risulto antipatica da sola. MA: malgrado i miei innumerevoli difetti (che conosco, che non nego e che sto pian piano imparando ad accettare), confido in me stessa e nelle mie idee, e spero che un giorno non troppo lontano riuscirò a risollevarmi e a dare una svolta alla mia vita. :-)

Con questi pensieri nella testa, stamattina ho tirato fuori (dopo quasi due settimane) il supermeravigliosissimo regalo del mio orso per il mio trentesimo (argh!!!) compleanno: una fiammante Pfaff, la prima macchina da cucire tutta mia (finora usavo quella di mamma), che ancora non ero riuscita a toccare causa zero tempo libero.

E ne sono uscite due casette. Storte, sbagliate, sproporzionate, troppo lunghe, troppo strette. Però tutto sommato gradevoli. E quando le ho viste ho pensato: queste casette sono io.

I'm going through a not-so-perfect stage of my life, where I complain a lot and I hate myself for doing so. 
Anyways, despite my weaknesses and shortcomings (which I know about and try to slowly accept), I believe in myself and my ideas, and I hope that I'll soon be able to change all the things I don't like in my life. :-)
With these thoughts in mind, this morning I've used for the first time after almost two weeks from my 30th (eek!) birthday my new superamazinglyfabulous Pfaff, the sewing machine my boyfriend got me as a birthday present. 
The result of a sewing morning are these two little houses. They are crooked, wrong, out of proportion, too long, too tight. But they are pretty after all. When I saw them I thought: these houses represent me.

Non ho usato cartamodelli. Ho cucito d'impulso. Uno schizzo veloce su un pezzo di carta, un metro da sarta e qualche spillo per segnare dove tagliare, e via di forbici. Finestre e porte cucite a mano, il resto con la mia nuova migliore amica tedesca.
No patterns involved, it was a sewing impulse. A brief sketch on a piece of paper, some pins and a measuring tape and I was ready to cut. Door and windows are hand sewn, the remaining is my new german best friend's credit.

Era tantissimo che non usavo la macchina da cucire, e si vede. Ma non mi importa. Stanno in piedi da sole, sono colorate e allegre. Se ne fregano delle imperfezioni. E poi hanno un cuore.
I haven't used a sewing machine in ages, and you can see it all. But I don't care. They stand on their own, they're colorful and cheerful. They don't give a crap about imperfections. And above all, they have a heart.

Custom orders #2

Questi due lavoretti mi sono stati commissionati un po' "tra capo e collo", ma sebbene non abbia avuto molto tempo per progettarli e realizzarli (solo un paio di giorni!), sono molto contenta del risultato :-)
I had just a few days to design and sew these custom banners since the order, but anyways I'm pretty happy of how they've come out :-)

I bimbi di oggi hanno davvero di tutto, e trovare un regalo originale per una neo mamma è un' impresa davvero ardua. Ecco perché, come dico sempre io, non c'è regalo migliore di un oggettino hand made personalizzato e quindi unico. Se poi oltretutto è pure super carinissimo, beh allora è proprio il massimo :-) 

Io personalmente sono innamorata dei due elefantini "dumbosi"... troppo teneri!
Kids (and their moms) have really everything nowadays, so to find a nice and original present for a new born is pretty hard job. That's why, as I always say, there's nothing better than a custom and unique hand made gift (even better if super-cute!) 
Talking about cuteness... I just love the two dumbo-like elephants. Too sweet!

Buonissime e a forma di cuoricino: ma ci può essere un frutto più dolce delle fragole? :->

Strawberries are my favourite: they are sooo yummy and shaped like a heart. Is there anything sweeter than a strawberry? :->

Vintage, nuovi, colorati, tondi, di legno, a due o quattro buchi... adoro i bottoncini e cerco sempre di inserirli nei miei lavori. Non so, rendono tutto più bello :-) In inglese si dice "cute as a button"... ed è proprio così :-)
I love buttons, I try to put them everywhere on my works. Round, plastic, wooden, vintage, new... they're just too cute, I love 'em all :-)

Tutorial pasquale: coniglietto porta ovetti

Come anticipato sulla mia pagina Facebook, ecco qui il tutorial di un progettino pasquale semplice, veloce e super-carino, di quelli che piacciono a me :)
As anticipated on my Facebook page, here's the tutorial of a quick, cute and easy Easter project, just the way I like it :)

Sul retro di questo tenero coniglietto dal faccione a forma di uovo c'è una piccola tasca pensata per contenere una manciata di quegli squisiti mini ovetti al cioccolato che, non so voi, ma per me sono peggio di una droga, quando inizio non riesco a smettere. Insomma, una decorazione tenerosa e un simpatico regalino di Pasqua, perfetto per i bambini... anche quelli un po' cresciuti ;)
This cute bunny rabbit holds a little pocket on its back, where you can put some of those delicious mini chocolate Easter eggs. It makes a very sweet Easter decoration and a lovely little gift, especially for children... and for the not quite grownups, too :) 

Per creare il mio coniglietto ho usato:
- feltro bianco, beige, verde e pesca (di quest'ultimo ne serve davvero poco poco, per fare il naso)
- filo semplice da cucito nero, bianco e pesca
- filo spesso di cotone, bianco
- filo spesso di lana, nero
- un po' di fard rosa per le guance
- un bottoncino carino (per decorare la tasca)
- imbottitura sintetica
- forbici da ricamo, aghi e spilli.
Questo coniglietto, come d'altra parte tutti i miei progettini feltrosi, è cucito tutto a mano. I punti che ho usato sono il punto festone, il punto indietro e il punto a sopraggitto.
For this little guy I've used:
- white, fawn and green felt, and just a little bit of peach felt for the nose
- simple sewing thread in black, white and peach
- white thicker cotton thread
- black wool thread
- a bit of pink blush for the cheeks
- a cute button (to embellish the pocket)
- stuffing, as polyfill
- embroidery scissors, needles and pins.
Like all of my felty projects, this bunny is completely hand sewn. The stitches used are: blanket stitch, backstitch and whipstitch.

1. Stampa le sagome qui sotto (mantenendo le dimensioni originali del file) e ritagliale. Fissa la sagome di carta al feltro con degli spilli e ritaglia un musetto bianco, due teste beige, due orecchie bianche e una taschina verde. Fissa il musetto bianco alla testa e cuci con punti a sopraggitto (whipstitch). Al centro del musetto bianco, cuci con punto indietro un piccolo triangolino di feltro pesca per il naso.
1. Print full-size the pattern pieces below and cut them out. Pin the paper templates on felt and cut out one white face, two fawn heads, two white ears and a green pocket. Pin the white face on the head and sew with whipstitches. Sew the peach nose in the middle of the white face, using small backstitches. 

2. Con il filo spesso di lana nero, fai due nodi francesi per gli occhi. Con il filo semplice da cucito nero, ricama a punto indietro una piccola bocca sorridente, partendo da sotto al naso.
2. Make two french knots for the eyes using black wool thread. With simple black sewing thread, embroider a little smiling mouth, starting from under the nose.

3. Picchietta un po' di fard rosa sulle guance con la punta delle dita o con un pennello a zoccolo.
3. Tap a bit of pink blush on the cheeks with the tip of your fingers; you can either use a stippler brush, if you have one. 

4. Abbellisci la tasca con un bottoncino o un po' di feltro della sagoma che preferisci. Cuci la tasca sul retro del coniglietto, a punto indietro, lasciando aperto il bordo superiore (ovviamente :D).
4. Embellish the pocket with a cute button or a felted appliqué in the shape you prefer. Sew the pocket on the rear of the bunny with backstitches, leaving the upper side open (obviously :D).

5. Fissa le orecchie bianche sul fronte del coniglietto e cuci a sopraggitto con filo bianco. Con il filo spesso di cotone bianco, crea un occhiello di circa 10 cm e cucilo con pochi punti superficiali, senza trapassare il feltro, sul retro del coniglietto nella parte interna, di modo che sbuchi tra le orecchie una volta unite le due sagome fronte e retro.
5. Pin the white ears on the front on the bunny and sew with whipstitches and white thread. Use thicker cotton thread to make a 10cm loop and sew it superficially (without going all the way through the felt) on the inside of the bunny's back, so when you sew the front and the back together, the loop will come out in between the ears.

6. Inizia a cucire assieme il fronte e il retro del coniglietto partendo dal lato della testa con punto festone; lascia una piccola apertura di un paio di cm e imbottisci il coniglietto, pigiando delicatamente l'imbottitura con un oggetto dalla punta arrotondata (io uso il manico di un pennello). Imbottisci per prime le orecchie, poi il resto.
6. Sew the front and back together using blanket stitch. Start from one side of the bunny and leave a 2cm gap to insert the stuffing. Use a rounded tool to push the stuffing (I use the handle of a brush) and stuff the ears first. 

TA-DA! Il coniglietto porta ovetti è pronto! :)
